Two lessons per week
Lessons cost £17.50 per hour and each half term must be purchased as a block and paid in advance. A £75 deposit is required to secure the place - this is discounted from the final half term's invoice.
During each hour-long lesson, the class spends 10 minutes going through the previous week's homework, and then we cover new content using powerpoint, modelled answers and discussions over zoom or through chat. We occasionally use chat to answer multiple choice, calculations or shorter questions. The class sometimes completes a worksheet or related task either on their own, or in groups of two or three using bitpaper or classkick. In this way, I am able to see students working in real time and provide individual support. I am able to vary the lessons and the homework to target individual strengths and weaknesses.
The small group structure gives all the benefits of individual tuition, plus the security of learning alongside peers, all at a lower cost than 1:1 lessons. However, if a student needs more individual attention, 15 minute optional drop-in sessions are already included in the group fee.
If a space is currently available, I offer paid trial lessons for all of my group classes. In most cases, a trial lesson will demonstrate the format of the lesson and my teaching style. What a trial lesson will not show you is the level of tailoring that goes on throughout the course – such as checking homework to assess each student's strengths and weaknesses and ensuring that these are addressed in subsequent lessons.
